The morning preparations usually begin inside the priory itself, where the elegant rooms and large windows create beautiful natural light.

This part of the day is always full of anticipation as everyone begins to realise the wedding day has finally arrived.

Rather than directing anything, I simply capture the moments as they happen — the quiet pause while someone has their hair finished, the laughter between friends, or a parent seeing their daughter in her dress for the first time.

Where do ceremonies take place at Hodsock Priory?

Most weddings at Hodsock Priory take place in the Buchanan Hall; you also have the Panelled Hall, the Pavilion, and the option of an outdoor ceremony.

It’s a beautiful ceremony space that feels intimate without being small, and the natural light creates a warm atmosphere for exchanging vows.

Because I work entirely with the ambient light already in the room, the photographs reflect the true feeling of the moment without relying on intrusive flash photography.

What is the drinks reception and outdoor space like?

After the ceremony, the celebrations usually move outside to the Italian Terrace.

This part of the day is perfect for documentary photography. Guests are relaxed, drinks are flowing, and everyone finally has time to chat and celebrate together.

I spend most of this time quietly moving through the crowd, capturing the real moments — laughter between friends, hugs between family members and the general buzz of the celebration.

Where are the best photo locations at Hodsock Priory?

One of the reasons I love photographing weddings here is the variety of beautiful locations within a short walk of the priory.

The gardens, woodland areas and historic architecture all provide wonderful backdrops without needing to travel anywhere.

Rather than asking couples to pose awkwardly, we simply take a short walk together and let things unfold naturally.

Five minutes. Ten minutes at most. Then you’re straight back to enjoying the party with your guests.

Throughout the day, I often create short cinematic clips alongside the photographs. These aren’t staged or directed — they simply capture the atmosphere of the day as it happens, from laughter during the drinks reception to the energy of the evening dance floor.
