Sunkissed Summer Wedding at Bawtry Hall
Some weddings stay with you long after the last dance — not because of trends or details, but because of the people and the emotion running through the day. This was one of those. A gorgoeus sunkissed wedding at Bawtry Hall.

I first met Leanne & Antony when I photographed a gorgeous wedding at Saltmarshe Hall – the beautiful wedding of Antony’s brother John. After seeing their wedding photos, Leanne got in touch and asked if I’d photograph their own wedding at Bawtry Hall!
Between the two weddings, the family sadly lost the Antony and john’s father. His presence was felt throughout the day. There was sunshine, laughter and proper celebration — but there were also quiet moments of love and remembrance that gave everything perspective. There were so many touching moments. and it was hard to not tear up behind my camera.
Bawtry Hall was the perfect place for it. Warm summer light filled the gardens from morning right through to sunset — the kind of light that makes a documentary photographer very, very happy.

As Antony said hello to guests as they arrived, Leanne, and William, their handsome young toddler, made their final preparations at the family home in Doncaster.

Stunning Indoor Bawtry Hall Wedding Ceremony
What I always notice at Bawtry, is that that the light floods in and bounces off the walls. It really is quite beautiful! There are so many poorly lit wedding venues,so being a wedding photographer at Bawtry Hall is always a blessing.

A Beautiful Summer Day at Bawtry Hall
From the moment guests started arriving, the whole place felt relaxed. The sun stayed out all day, drinks reception spilled into the gardens, and there was none of the rushing-from-one-thing-to-the-next that some weddings get caught up in.
That’s always when the best photos happen — when the day is allowed to breathe a bit. Real smiles, real reactions, none of it forced. The couple wanted the day to feel personal and easy, and that’s exactly how it played out.

Quiet Emotion Throughout the Day
Weddings often carry far more emotion than people expect. This one especially.
There were small tributes and quiet reminders of someone deeply missed — but what came through more than anything was how much love was in the room. The speeches brought tears and laughter in equal measure (the best kind of speeches always do — slightly chaotic, completely heartfelt, impossible to fake).
As a documentary photographer, those moments matter far more to me than any posed shot ever could. They’re what tell the real story of the day, years down the line.

Golden Summer Light at Bawtry Hall
Bawtry Hall photographs beautifully in summer when the weather plays along — and on this day, it really did.
As the evening came in, we slipped out into the gardens for a few relaxed portraits. Nothing posed, nothing awkward — just the two of them having a proper moment together while the sun dropped lower over the grounds.
Those quieter minutes away from the crowd often turn out to be the photos couples come back to most.

Why Bawtry Hall Works So Well for Relaxed Documentary Coverage
One of the things I love most about Bawtry Hall is how the day flows there. Plenty of space for guests to spread out, beautiful interiors when you need them, and gardens that work brilliantly for candid coverage all the way through.
