Beautiful Wedding of Olivia & David
Goldsborough Hall | Yorkshire Wedding Photographer
There are certain venues where I get an enquiry and immediately think, 'Perfect. Come rain or shine, there are so many opportunities to get stunning wedding photos both inside and out.' Goldsborough Hall is 100% one of those venues! It was brilliant to be back in North Yorkshire to capture the wedding of Olivia and David.
Both Olivia and David work in our beloved NHS; Olivia is a nurse, and David is a consultant. Their day was perfect from start to finish, and the emotion between them was absolutely electric during the ceremony, as you'll see in my favourite photos below.
Why Goldsborough Hall is a Dream for Wedding Photography
As a Yorkshire wedding photographer with over 20 years of experience, I know exactly what makes a venue work flawlessly on camera. Here are the top spots we utilised for Olivia and David's day:
The Bridal Suite: Blessed with gorgeous, soft natural light from large windows that overlook the 12-acre estate—perfect for morning prep photos.
The 16th-Century Architecture: The historic stonework provides a dramatic, cinematic backdrop for unposed, natural portraits.
The Princess Mary Drawing Room: With its magnificent marble fireplace and double-panelled windows, it offers gorgeous, even lighting for group photographs.
The Quarter-Mile Lime Tree Walk: Ideal for a quiet, 15-minute sunset stroll away from your guests to capture those romantic "golden hour" shots.
David and the boys kicked off the day by watching a football match and having a pint to chill out at the local pub—a great idea in my view! Meanwhile, back at the Hall, watching Olivia's dad see his precious daughter for the first time in her wedding dress was a truly special moment.
The glorious ceremony room, with so much natural light flooding in, makes photographing weddings at Goldsborough Hall such a pleasure. Following the vows, it was time for confetti and canapés in the stunning grounds.
Confetti and canapés in the stunning grounds of the Hall. It's such a pleasure to photograph weddings at Goldsborough!
The wedding reception settings can be seen below - GORGEOUS natural soft light flooding through the room!
The sprawling estate is absolutely beautiful. Before the speeches and the mind-bogglingly amazing wedding breakfast, Olivia and David practised their first dance outside. With the Hall's perfect architecture behind them, they looked like film stars!
Speeches and a wonderful wedding breakfast (which I was also served—the food is incredible!).
The first dance as husband and wife, alongside a great DJ set, saxophonist, caricature artist, and a dance with their parents, ended a quite beautiful day.
As you can see, it was everything Olivia and David could have wished for!

Goldsborough Hall Wedding Photography FAQs
What makes Goldsborough Hall a unique wedding venue?
Goldsborough Hall stands out for its 16th-century grandeur, royal heritage, and 12 acres of landscaped gardens. The Hall once housed HRH Princess Mary in the 1920s, who designed parts of the gardens herself. The combination of historical significance and a private setting creates an exclusive atmosphere that is difficult to match elsewhere in Yorkshire.
Where are the best locations for photos at Goldsborough Hall?
The Japanese garden with its ornamental bridge, the formal rose garden (stunning between June and September), and the imposing stone pillars at the entrance are all signature locations. For indoor photos, the grand staircase and the Adams pillars in the Sir Richard Hutton Room are spectacular.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
This is where Goldsborough Hall truly shines. Natural light floods the interior spaces, making it an ideal venue for indoor photography. The Princess Mary Drawing Room accommodates up to 150 guests while maintaining a refined elegance, ensuring your group photos and intimate portraits look incredible regardless of the Yorkshire weather.
History and Heritage of Goldsborough Hall
Goldsborough Hall boasts a rich heritage dating back to the 16th century, with the adjacent St Mary's Church originating from the 13th century. The Hall operates as both a private home and a luxury, exclusive-use venue, ensuring couples enjoy complete privacy.
The seasonal variations here create distinct photographic opportunities. Spring showcases blooming daffodils and tulips; summer benefits from extended daylight hours in the rose garden; autumn transforms the grounds with rich amber colours; and winter offers dramatic skies and a cosy, romantic atmosphere inside by the roaring fires.
I’m looking forward to returning to shoot here later this summer!
