Sun Pavilion Wedding Photographer
Amir & Hannah’s gorgeous summer wedding at the Sun Pavilion, Harrogate
I arrived at The Sun Pavilion in Harrogate to photograph the wedding of Hannah and Amir on the most glorious of early summer days. Hannah and Amir actually held two intimate outdoor ceremonies: a beautiful English civil ceremony and a traditional Muslim ceremony. The vibrant colours of the floral setup, combined with the stunning guest outfits and Hannah's incredibly delicate, ornate wedding dress, were an absolute joy to photograph!
Although harsh summer sunlight can sometimes be tricky to shoot in, personally, I absolutely love it. It allows me to get creative with the light and shadows as I people-watch and capture those natural, unposed documentary moments.
Why The Sun Pavilion is a Hidden Gem for Weddings
Nestled right in the middle of Harrogate's Valley Gardens, The Sun Pavilion is a timeless Art Deco venue that offers a truly unique backdrop for a North Yorkshire wedding. Here is why I love returning here as a Sun Pavilion wedding photographer:
The 1930s Glass Dome: The spectacular glass-domed ceiling floods the interior with gorgeous natural light, which is an absolute dream for vibrant, indoor photography.
The Valley Gardens: Step straight out of the venue and you have endless, beautifully manicured botanical gardens for gorgeous candid couple portraits
The Indoor-Outdoor Vibe: The large windows and terrace area mean that your drinks reception can spill out into the gardens on a warm summer day, while still providing a stunning, light-filled backup if the Yorkshire weather turns!

The large windows provide stunning views of the gardens. This creates a lovely indoor-outdoor feel.
Planning Your Wedding Day at the Sun Pavilion

Photo Opportunities at The Sun Pavilion
There are so many beautiful places to have your wedding couple portraits taken at the Sun Pavilion. Light floods through the gorgeous pavilion, even on a cloudy day. Amir & Hannah, however, had a cloudless, spectacularly sunny day all around! The bride and groom photos below took just 5 minutes to take as we took advantage of the beautiful summer weather. The photos were taken as guests relaxed after the wedding breakfast—that way, nobody even noticed that Amir & Hannah had nipped away!
Wedding Entertainment at Sun Pavilion
A Musical Evening
One of the most unforgettable moments of the day happened during the evening reception. I quickly found out that Amir is an incredibly talented musician and singer! He was actually invited up to the stage to play alongside one of his musical heroes—it was an absolutely electric moment to capture.
I’m a huge advocate for live entertainment at weddings, especially when it comes to music. A live band adds something special, and keeps the dancefloor buzzing - way more than if you just have a DJ (there are some amazing DJs out there who can help buck this, but they are the minority IMO!) Just look at the light flooding in once more below!
